Chief Executive Officer
Matija Gantar holds a university degree in economics. He was born in 1990 in Ljubljana. After graduating from the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana, he also studied abroad, where he completed a Master’s degree in Financial Engineering and Risk Management at Imperial College London and undertook further training in management at IESE Business School.
Whilst still a student, he gained experience through an internship in the audit department at KPMG Slovenia and worked as an assistant asset manager at Generali Investments d.o.o.; and after completing his studies, he went on to work as an analyst at the investment bank Joh. Berenberg, Gossler & Co in London. Since 2017, he has been a member of the management boards of KD Group d.d. and KD d.d., and until his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of KD Group, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of KD Group d.d.
From 2018 to 2024, he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Šumijev kvart d.o.o., and since 2024 he has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Deželna banka Slovenije. Matija Gantar was appointed Chief Executive Officer of KD Group with effect from 19 November 2025 for a four-year term of office.
